While the fire department is equipped to handle most fire emergencies in the city limits, there are times when additional help is necessary. In those cases, we can call on neighboring departments for additional equipment and personnel resources. We also respond to mutual aid requests to other cities.
All pages and radio communications are handled, both for single-department calls and mutual-aid calls, by the Hennepin County Dispatch 800-MHz trunked radio system. This allows for direct communication between departments (including police) throughout the county.
